Welcome!

Kishin (喜心) is one of the 3 minds (along with Daishin and Roshin) that Zen Master Dogen wrote about in the Tenzo Kyokun. Shin means mind, while Ki can be used to mean energy or spirit. When combined, the result is understood to be "Joyful Mind".

Kishin Zen Sangha provides a supportive environment for the practice of zazen, which is meditation with no objects, anchors, or content. Just sitting. The meditator strives to be aware of the stream of thoughts, allowing them to arise and pass away without interference.

The group will meditate for two 40 minute sessions with a ten minute walking meditation break in between with a short service and talk/discussion afterwards. All adults are welcome, whether you have meditated before or are new Zazen practice. Cushions and chairs will be provided.

Kishin Zen Sangha is an open and accepting practice welcoming to all who wish to deepen their practice or new to Zen.
